The benefits of getting IT certifications


Just as true in many areas, trying to secure entry-level position in the IT industry often encounter a catch-22. Employers are reluctant to hire someone with no experience, it is impossible to experience one gets hired. People often try to get around this problem by taking college courses. Unfortunately, unless the employer is aware of the specific college program, it may not carry much weight. This is where to get it recognized certificates can help. Employers know that those who have such certificates issued CompTIA, Cisco and Novell has completed classroom and hands-on training and passed a comprehensive test. The applicant, who is one of these certificates have a better chance of being hired than one that does not. Of these, some of the most sought-after are CompTIA certifications.

Comptia Certifications

The certification exams offered by CompTIA, Computer Technology Industry Association, are known and respected industry-wide. CompTIA created the first certification of their A +, in 1993 to be vendor-neutral PC maintenance and repair standard. Until that point, the repair man had to get a certificate for each type of computer and software they wanted to work on. With the introduction of A + certification, employers could be sure that potential employees had extensive knowledge of the most common PC hardware and software platform.

Today CompTIA offers 17 different certificates, but these employers consider three to be almost essential for anyone aspiring to become a PC or network technician. An applicant who has these certifications once his or her will have a better chance of being hired or promoted, but one that does not.

The A + Certification- A + certification requires two exams taken. The A + Essentials exam shows that the instrument has knowledge of computers and networks would be expected of a field technician with 500 hours experience. The A + Practical exam measures troubleshooting, repairs and problem-solving skills.

The Network + Certification- This certification covers the knowledge required in a network technician. To obtain this certification, will have to prove knowledge of the types of networks, the ways in which the various elements of network communication, network security and more. The technician who lives this certification qualify for jobs such as network technician, installer or help desk operator.

The Security + Certification- holder Security + certification has shown that he or she is an expert in network security. Test include topics such as cryptography, access control, preventing and eliminating threats such as viruses and other malware, and regulatory compliance. This training prepares people for jobs including system administrators, security consultant and network administrator.

In the competitive world of IT industries, one needs something to set them apart from the crowd. Those who want to enter or move up in the IT world to prove to potential employers that they have the appropriate knowledge and skills to do the job. Whether aspiration is to get hired as a desktop support or network technician or to be introduced in business, certifications, such as those offered by CompTIA can mean the difference between success or failure.
